Norwegian mobile broadband - sixth annual report from CRNA

Simula Metropolitan’s Center for Resilient Networks and Applications (CRNA) performs long term measurements of Norwegian mobile broadband networks. The measurements form the basis for an annual report on the stability and performance of these networks.

This year’s report shows that the positive development in the experienced stability of mobile broadband networks, which we reported the last four years, has continued in 2018, says Ahmed Elmokashfi, responsible for the report. Users experience fewer service outages and better coverage on trains. A large fraction of the measured connections has never experienced a single day with a service outage lasting more than a minute. Packet loss and download speed remain at the same level as in 2017. Furthermore, the 4G coverage has markedly increased on board both local and long-distance trains. In particular, we record an almost full 4G coverage on local train stretches.

The report (in Norwegian) is available here.
